All sessions are in Leyburn 301 unless otherwise noted. All sessions are open to all faculty and academic staff, unless otherwise noted. Lunch (Leyburn Library Pit, in front of Northern Auditorium) is open to faculty and academic staff who sign up for a session on that day. Please give at least 24-hour notice for lunch. The workshops, usually including instruction as well as hands-on practical experience, are organized around a set of themes related to teaching and technology. Check the website for offerings and registration information.
University Computing maintains a web site located at Technology education: An array of strategies (tutorials, info sessions, etc.) is provided for learning technology at Washington and Lee at http://computing.wlu.edu/services/training/index.html If you would like to schedule training, contact Jeff Overholtzer (x8440).
By the time you arrive at the university you will have been assigned an e-mail address. Email or call your department’s Technology Integration Specialist (whose name is available via your department head or from the HELP desk supervisor) for information about getting started with GroupWise. The University uses Blackboard course management software. Julie Knudson (x8125) is the University’s primary resource for working with this resource. Questions about room assignments, or requests for technology-equipped classrooms may be addressed to our Associate Registrar, Barbara Rowe (browe@wlu.edu). Faculty who are teaching in a non-equipped room may request mobile technology equipment as needed by calling Flash Floyd in the Instructional Technology Lab in Leyburn Library (x 8098). At least 24-hours notice for the deliver of equipment is appreciated. Carole Bailey (x5851), the Classroom Technology Administrator, and John Blackburn (x8651), Head of the Instructional Technology Group, the may also be helpful in addressing related needs. During class hours, classrooms are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis via the Registrar’s Office. After class hours check first with the appropriate contact person for the building in question to reserve technology-equipped classrooms (which are locked after hours).
