Beinecke Scholarship

The Beinecke Scholarship is awarded to twenty juniors nationwide who demonstrate both some form of financial need (no matter how small) and a clear interest in continuing their studies at the graduate level. Reserved for students in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, Beinecke scholarships provide each recipient with over $30,000 to cover the costs of tuition and fees accrued during one's graduate career.

This scholarship is intended only for students who wish to pursue the Ph.D., and therefore is not available to those who wish to apply to Law, Medical, or Business School.

As one of the hundred schools invited to participate in the Beinecke competition, Washington and Lee University may nominate one junior for the scholarship each year. The internal deadline for all applications is February 1, while the candidate selected to advance must submit materials to the national office no later than March 1.

Juniors interested in applying for the Beinecke Scholarship should contact Associate Dean Ikeda by December 1.
