Goldwater Fellowship

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarships are available to sophomores and juniors interested in the fields of science, mathematics, and engineering. Each award covers expenses for college tuition, fees, books, and room and board, up to $7,500.

Washington and Lee University may nominate up to four undergraduates for this award each year. Nominees, each of whom must be a U.S. citizen or resident alien intending to obtain U.S. citizenship, must be able to demonstrate outstanding academic performance and commitment to a career in the sciences (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, Mathematics, Physics and Engineering).   Students who plan to study medicine are eligible for a Goldwater Scholarship only if they plan a research career rather than a career as a medical doctor in a private practice.

A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 is required of all nominees. Indicate intent to liaison officer by November 1st.
