Grants and Fellowships

National Science Foundation, Department of Defense and Other Fellowships for Graduate Study in the Sciences

These fellowships are awarded competitively to students pursuing graduate training in science, mathematics, and engineering. Awards differ among programs but many offer significant stipends (e.g. $17,500 per year) to support graduate work. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and most programs require Graduate Records Examination scores. Deadlines for the most competitive programs are in early November.

Students interested in these programs should consult the World Wide Web for up-to-date descriptions (search for "fellowships") and programs of narrower scope such as those specifically supporting graduate training in areas like climatology or cognitive science.
